India moves to beef up pharma sector, clinical trial oversight

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization, the FDA's counterpart in India, hopes to better regulate the pharma sector with a tenfold increase of its drug inspection staff. The agency also intends to bolster the state-level regulatory bodies and create eight additional central research facilities to address the rising number of clinical studies in the country.
