N.C. district seeks to curb increase in childhood obesity

Students' body mass index in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools in North Carolina has risen more than 5 percentage points since 2007. Recent data show that 43% of ninth-grade students are overweight or obese based on their BMI. Officials say they are working to improve students' health by launching a nutrition program, along with running clubs and other activities.
