Summer bridge program seeks to help close achievement gap

School officials and educators at Pinellas County Public Schools in Florida reached out to the district's highest-need students for its inaugural summer bridge program. Students in the program get extra practice in core subjects such as reading, math and science. During a recent session, students in one class read content on laptops tailored to their specific reading levels, while students in other classes learned about math and science using bubbles and slime.
