Ill. students write, perform "docu-poetry" in summer workshop

Students in Springfield, Ill., who are participating in the Springfield Urban League's summer program recently attended a weeklong "docu-poetry" workshop in which they reviewed historical documents about the Springfield Race Riot of 1908. As part of the program, sponsored by and held at Benedictine University, students wrote poems about the disturbance and performed them in front of their peers.
