N.Y. high court upholds local fracking bans

The New York State Court of Appeals upheld a lower court ruling on Monday, affirming that towns have the authority to ban hydraulic fracturing within their borders. Norse Energy attorney Thomas West said the decision only made it more improbable for drilling companies to do business in the state. "Industry has already fled the state because of the six-year moratorium," he said.
