Japan May Expand Place Of Origin, Distribution Path Guidelines

In an effort to win back consumer confidence after the BSE scare, Japan's health ministry reportedly has proposed to assign a tracking number to cattle and other products, including chicken, pork, farm-raised fish and vegetables. The government is planning to put the plan into place by next March, industry observers say.
