Study: Brain prions appear central to Alzheimer's disease

Prions in the brain may prevent a key protein associated with Alzheimer's disease from building up, according to a new study. Researchers found that beta amyloid, a component of Alzheimer's "plaques," fails to build up in the brain if high levels of the prions are present.
