New Roche CEO supports shift to primary-care treatments

Roche will continue to concentrate on diagnostics and pharmaceuticals but will intensify focus on primary-care treatments that offer more notable benefits than older drugs, CEO Severin Schwan said in an interview with the Financial Times. Schwan, who took over in April, also expressed optimism over the Swiss drugmaker's ability to launch new products, saying the development of innovative drugs and diagnostics will create demand amid the industry's gloomy climate.
