Workplace weight-loss programs show modest results

An analysis of 11 studies of employer-sponsored weight-loss programs shows workers who participated shed from 2.2 pounds to about 14 pounds, compared with workers who did not participate and averaged a loss of 1.5 pounds to a gain of 1.1 pounds. Programs that incorporated monthly face-to-face contact seemed to result in better success, the researchers noted.
