CMS proposes 90% equipment utilization rate

The CMS proposed to increase to 90% the equipment utilization rate for medical-imaging equipment costing more than $1 million for the 2010 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. A radiology group said the proposed increase could have a negative effect on the use of different imaging modalities. The CMS will receive comments until the end of August and release its final ruling in November.
