New jumbo jet proceeding despite 787 delay, Boeing says

Boeing Co. says the latest delay on its 787 model won't affect the design schedule for its new 747-8 Intercontinental. German carrier Lufthansa, the first customer for the new jumbo jet, expressed concern last week that a delay in the 787 would again drain engineers from the 747-8, as happened last year. But a Boeing engineering official says the 787 setback "won't have an impact on the 747. ... Over the last two years, we've aligned our engineering resource ability to make sure we meet all our commitments."
