South Carolina cracks down on illegal hiring with random audits:

South Carolina officials this week began to conduct random audits of large companies suspected of hiring illegal immigrants. Officials say they will target industries that typically hire immigrant workers, such as landscaping and construction. Starting July 1, state law also requires businesses with 100 or more employees to verify workers' legal status through a federal employment database or by requesting a state driver's license.
