Ohio city goes green with new hydropower plant

Hamilton, Ohio, will soon be getting 70% of its energy from renewable sources, thanks to a new $500 million hydroelectric project being built across the Ohio River in Kentucky. The new 105-megawatt power plant will be operational by 2014, in part because federal and state officials pulled out all the stops to slice through red tape and avoid other delays. "When you're talking about building an electric-generating facility, each year lost equates to millions of lost revenue and millions of dollars in increased cost," said Hamilton's city manager.
