Qualcomm eyes augmented-reality software

Qualcomm has partnered with toy company Mattel to develop games using augmented-reality software for mobile devices. The technology, developed by Qualcomm's recently acquired Imagination Computer Services, allows users to project images onto their surroundings through their hand-held's camera. "We watch kids play. ... We know that AR will be a part of how they do it," said Mattel Digital Network Senior Vice President Chuck Scothon.
