A wave of prosperity sweeps across Latin America

Latin America is experiencing a surge of economic growth, fueled largely by expanding trade with Asia and supported by government policy that economists called pragmatic. Standard & Poor's upgraded Bolivia's credit rating in May, praising the nation's excellent management of public finances. Brazil's economy, the biggest in Latin America, grew 9% in the first quarter compared with the same period last year.
