Willis Re: No overall increase in catastrophe rates after quakes

The earthquakes that hit Japan and New Zealand have resulted in a significant increase in catastrophe rates in these countries, but the disasters failed to increase overall reinsurance rates, according to Willis Re. "Recent heavy natural catastrophe losses are not having a wide impact on the market pricing as rate increases are largely limited to loss-affected contracts," said Willis Re's James Vickers.
