HHS unveils final birth control coverage policy under ACA

The White House announced Friday the final rules on the birth control coverage mandate of the Affordable Care Act, which requires almost all employers to include in their employee health insurance policy coverage of birth control without charging a co-pay or deductible. The rules exempt only religious employers as defined under the Internal Revenue Code, but not universities and other religious-affiliated institutions. The rules guarantee women's access to preventive care and make sure faith-based employers don't have to arrange or pay for treatments against their beliefs, HHS said.
