How to help workers cope with open offices

Open-plan office spaces are all the rage, but cubicle-free workplaces can prove distracting and take a toll on productivity, says Gensler workplace-design chief Janet Pogue. Balance things out by providing meeting spaces where employees can gather without disrupting others, private spaces where they can escape distractions, and common spaces where they can mingle with others, Pogue says.
