Investors flee funds and seek safety in cash

Investors are reacting to turmoil in financial markets by shifting funds into cash and cash equivalents, analysts say. Among funds that report weekly, $19.96 billion was pulled out of stock and bond mutual funds and exchange-traded funds during the week that ended Wednesday, the severest outflow since August 2011, according to Lipper.
