Microsoft creates new startup-friendly initiative

Microsoft has announced plans to bolster its support for startups. The initiative, known as Microsoft Ventures, offers "mentorship, technology guidance, seed funding, joint selling opportunities and other benefits," according to Rahul Sood, general manager of Microsoft Startups. Microsoft already has accelerator programs around the world and provides free software for entrepreneurs through a program known as BizSpark.
