Pediatric admissions for chronic pain on the rise

U.S. researchers looked at data from the Pediatrics Health Information System and found a more than eightfold increase in the number of children and teens admitted to the hospital for chronic pain between 2004 and 2010. More than twice as many girls as boys were admitted for chronic pain, and abdominal pain was the most prevalent condition reported, according to the study in the journal Pediatrics.
