Telefonica brings first Firefox phone to market in Spain

Spanish operator Telefonica today released the first smartphone based on Mozilla's new Firefox operating system. The ZTE Open will retail for $90 as Mozilla attempts to find a niche among budget handset buyers. Deutsche Telekom will also distribute Firefox phones made by Alcatel-Lucent in several European countries. Also, a Mozilla executive said the company would soon release a tablet but offered no time frame for that step. Mozilla has said that it has no plans to bring Firefox-powered phones to the U.S.
