Web-based communities could boost chronic disease care

A study that appeared in the Journal of Medical Internet Research showed that Web-based health communities help improve the care of patients with chronic illnesses such as Parkinson's disease. In addition to engaging patients and inspiring them to manage their health, the communities also allow them to share experiences and advice that they may not get from health care professionals.
