Electronic monitoring helps measure, boost hand hygiene in S.C. hospitals

Noting that hand hygiene is truly successful at only 40% to 50% of hospitals nationwide even when monitoring efforts are in place, Dr. Tom Diller helped implement a benchmarking system at Greenville Health System that is based on the World Health Organization's Five Moments for Hand Hygiene guidelines. Part of the effort required video monitoring to ensure consistency and develop a baseline to measure better hand hygiene in the South Carolina hospital system.
