Traditional chemical regulations will have a big impact on the development of green chemicals, analysts say, as many green chemical-makers use feedstock coming from crops such as sugar, maize or wheat, or from food waste, or biomass. Analysts wonder whether the popularity of environmentally friendly products will be worth their cost and eventually become less niche.
