Only 30% of U.S. hospitals engage in HIEs, study finds

A study from Harvard University and the University of Michigan finds that only 30% of the nation's hospitals participated in health information exchange with providers outside of their networks and that HIE participation varies widely across states. The study suggests that more incentives and stronger policies might be needed to promote greater HIE participation.
