Practice groups opt for affiliations more than formal mergers

A survey by the Medical Group Management Association revealed more than 40% of responding medical practice executives have or will informally integrate their practice with other health care organizations including accountable care organizations, independent practice associations and physician/hospital organizations. Researchers said 27% have or intend to formally merge with another physician-owned practice or sell their practice to a health system or hospital.
