Convenience stores gaining ground on supermarkets

With more consumers looking for a quick and simple grocery shopping experience, convenience stores such as Wawa are gaining an increasing share of the market. In the Philadelphia region, Wawa is third in marketshare behind Albertson's and ShopRite. Wawa's president attributes part of the success to expanded or replaced older stores, additional parking and the sale of gasoline in some locations.
