In another victory, Barclays gets ABN offer extension

Dutch regulators have given Barclays a three-week extension (until July 23) to finalize its final offer for ABN Amro. Under the original terms of its agreement, Barclays, which is involved in a takeover fight for ABN Amro with a consortium led by Royal Bank of Scotland, would have had to publish details of the takeover this week. The extension allows Barclays to wait for a crucial ruling by the Dutch Supreme Court, which is expected this month.
