Editorial: Give Corps funding for levee count

While levees on the lower Mississippi River must be built to standards established by the Army Corps of Engineers, levees north of St. Louis lack any sort of federal regulation or standardization, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The paper cites that discrepancy as one factor behind last month's devastation and calls for Congress to fund a full accounting of the river's levees -- before political pressures recede with the floodwaters.
