Bloomberg loses control over NYC schools

New York state lawmakers failed to renew New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's control over city schools, reverting the system to its 2002 model. While state Senate Republicans favored Bloomberg's continued control, some key Democrats prefer a model that would make teachers and parents partners with the mayor in governing city schools.
