The market for green roofs is just starting to develop in the U.S., observers say. They note that the benefits of green roofs, which include reduced energy costs, have piqued the interest of building owners and developers across the country. While green roofs typically cost more to install than traditional roofs, researchers have found that the resulting lower energy costs and better stormwater management offset the higher initial installation expense.
