Georgia airport eyes GA landing fees

Aviation commissioners in Augusta, Ga., are considering implementing general aviation landing fees at the behest of commercial carriers. Though fuel sales already account for 55% of the airports budget -- compared to 25% for airline fees -- commissioners believe they can wring more revenue out of the GA side of the airport. "We want to make sure we're not running our business off to Aiken or Thomson [with the fees], but the reality is, if someone's got business here in Augusta, they want to come to the Augusta airport," says commissioner Diane Johnston.
