Cepheid cautions users of Xpert MRSA/SA BC test on results

Molecular diagnostics firm Cepheid has advised users of its Xpert MRSA/SA BC test that the device in some cases has produced false-negative results relating to methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and should not be depended on to rule out the bacteria. The company said the test would still be effective for other tests except the one for MRSA, and that positive MRSA results can be considered as valid.
