Cereal is a nutritious start to the day, study finds

Children who ate a bowl of cereal for breakfast had a healthier diet overall than those who skipped the meal or those who had other types of morning foods, researchers said. The study of nearly 10,000 children ages 9 to 18 found 22% of breakfast skippers were obese, compared with almost 20% of those who had other types of breakfast and just 15% of cereal eaters.
