Saving a school tree as a class project

In choosing a beginning-of-the-year problem-based learning project, teacher and blogger Heather Wolpert-Gawron has decided that her students will work to save one of the school's trees that is threatened by construction work. The project will include a writing campaign, a publicity campaign and public-speaking events. She also is considering starting a class blog devoted to the project.
