Study IDs predictors of diabetic foot ulcer recurrence

Recurrence is more likely if the original ulcer is on the plantar surface of the forefoot, mid-foot or heel than if it is on the top of the foot, toes or heel, researchers found. Patients with osteomyelitis, glycated hemoglobin level above 7.5% and a C-reactive protein level above 5 mg/mL also are at higher risk of recurrence, according to the study.
