CMS rule spells out requirements for LTC, hospice contracts

CMS issued a final rule, effective Aug. 26, requiring long-term-care providers to create contracts with hospices, clarifying the division of responsibilities and increasing communication. The rule requires lists of services provided by the hospice and the long-term-care facility, and mandates that hospices' responsibilities for creating appropriate care plans must be laid out.
