Dempsey contacts head of Egyptian military

The day the Egyptian military gave the nation's president 48 hours to share power or face possible insurrection by the army, Egyptian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Sedki Sobhi got a call from General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff in the U.S., said a Pentagon official. The official would not provide details of the conversation, and the Pentagon says it's taking a wait-and-see approach with events in Egypt. "We're not entirely sure what's going to happen one way or the other in the next 48 hours, so I wouldn't engage in any kind of speculation," Pentagon spokesman George Little told reporters.
