Geena Davis calls on animators to create more women characters

Academy-Award winning actor Geena Davis last week delivered the keynote address at the annual Conference of the Society for Animation, urging animators to create more women characters. She noted that only 17% of characters in animated crowd scenes are female. "We're in effect saying that women and girls are less important than men and boys –– that they don't take up half the space in the world," she said.
