Global chemical trade increased last year, data indicate

Chemical-trade volume rose worldwide in 2012, driven in large part by gains in emerging regions, according to economic data. Cheap natural gas feedstock helped keep the volume of U.S. chemical exports steady at $207 billion. U.S. chemical imports fell 1.3%, contributing to the U.S. chemical industry's second-highest surplus in the past decade.
