High-stakes tests to get second look by R.I. Board of Education

The Rhode Island Board of Education next month will review the use of the New England Common Assessment Program tests as a high school graduation requirement, Board Chairwoman Eva-Marie Mancuso said last week. The decision came as a group of 17 organizations submitted a petition calling on the board to reconsider the policy, enacted by its predecessor -- the Board of Regents -- and set to take effect with this year's juniors. The board has 30 days to respond to the petition.
