Immigration causes spike in English-language learners in England

As immigration continues to increase in England, so has the number of students speaking a language other than English at home, according to data from the Department for Education. Data show that since the 1990s, the number of students speaking English as a second language has doubled, with 1 in 5 pupils in primary education now speaking another language.
