Lawmakers ring death knell for $3.4B Columbia River Crossing

Republican senators in the Washington state legislature declined to approve a funding plan for the $3.4  billion Columbia River Crossing, effectively canceling the two-state project. Gov. Jay Inslee is expected to coordinate with Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber to discuss plans for an alternative project. However, "without the money from Washington and adherence to the project budget and schedule, neither state can incur the further costs of delay," Kitzhaber said.
