Medical apps developers say they see regulatory hurdles ahead

Developers educated lawmakers on the complications arising from the implementation health-related mobile applications, testifying before the Small Business Subcommittee on Health and Technology in the House of Representatives. Doctors are destined to become mobile professionals with clinical data following them, said Alan Portela, CEO of AirStrip. Other experts testified that small businesses could be impacted by the maze of regulations surrounding mobile medical apps. "It is important to remember the impact laws and regulations have on small businesses. ... With the possibility of unintended consequences disproportionately affecting small businesses, it's important for Congress to move carefully when making changes that affect health care mobile technologies," Ideomed's Keith Brophy said.
