Mobile ad spending is still small, but growth is impressive

Mobile ad spending accounted for $4.75 billion out of $216 billion market for advertising in the U.S. last year, but its rate of growth is unmatched, far outpacing that for online ads, according to SNL Kagan senior analyst John Fletcher. Among the notable factors are the rapid adoption of tablets and video, which accounts for a larger share of mobile than online advertising.
