More hypoglycemia admissions seen in older diabetes patients

Data presented at the American Diabetes Association 73rd Scientific Sessions revealed hospital admissions for hypoglycemia now surpass those for hyperglycemia among Medicare beneficiaries ages 65 and older. The researchers found 429,850 hospitalizations for hypoglycemia from 1999 to 2011, compared with 302,095 hyperglycemia-related admissions during the same period.
