Report: Error-filled plane registry makes security tougher

A new report finds that about half of foreign-owned planes registered with the Federal Aviation Administration did not list information such as the aircraft's owner. It also found numerous cases where a plane was registered multiple times to different owners. "These data weaknesses largely stem from FAA's lack of formal quality control procedures to regularly reassess the integrity of the registry's data and information systems," said Louis King, assistant inspector general for financial and information technology audits, in the report.
