S. Korea's Lotte to buy Kazakhstan candy company

As the target demographic for candy -- namely children -- has been slow to grow in South Korea, Lotte Confectionery, based there, announced plans to acquire Rakhat JSC, a candy company based in Kazakhstan, for $156.6 million. Rakhat commands 20% of the candy market in Kazakhstan, where chocolate and candy consumption is higher than in South Korea.
