Salty reclaimed water damages Arizona golf course

The general manager of a Fountain Hills, Ariz., club is pleading with residents to switch from salt to potassium in their water softeners so the reclaimed water it uses on the greens won't continue to cause damage. “We don’t have healthy golf courses right now” because of the salt content in the water, says Jeff Lessig. “Golf courses also have an enormously positive impact on real estate values and the entire brand and image of the community. Collectively, the golf industry is one of, if not the largest, economic engines in the Town of Fountain Hills.”
